Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh Passes Away

Date Published 09 April 2021

In 1953, at the Queens Coronation, the Duke of Edinburgh took an oath to serve his wife, the Queen, for the rest of his life.

At the ceremony, he knelt before her and swore to be her loyal follower:

'I, Philip, do pledge to become your liege man of life and limb, and of earthly worship...and faith and truth I will bear unto you, to live and die against all manner of folks. So help me God. '

Rising, he kissed the Queen's cheek and touched the Queens crown in token of his readiness to help her bear it's burden.

Never a more loyal husband, confidante and companion of our majesty.

Rest in peace now
